How to turn off the work button at the end of the workday

Are you stressed, do you have too much work pressure or are you heading for a burnout,.. Then definitely read on to find out what you can do to change your work, work environment or work ethics.

More and more people are dealing with it. But you can still do something yourself to prevent the daily stress of work from getting you down. So that you too do not get burned out and can avoid a burnout.

End your workday with a small ritual

Really end your workday as soon as you close the door of your workspace behind you. Take off your work clothes or uniform as soon as you get home. A refreshing shower can also help to wash away the work stress. And don't dwell on the past workday for too long. Consciously turn the button in your head and relax!

Be unreachable for a while

Unless it is part of your job or is contractually agreed, you do not have to be available 24 hours a day. Turn off your cell phone and close your laptop. Many employees today feel that they are expected to be available at all times, but we often put that pressure on ourselves. You shouldn't be flexible at all costs.

Set your boundaries!

Having friends at work is a great way to have fun at work. But if you also spend all your free time with colleagues, it becomes harder to leave work behind. Spend at most one or two evenings a week socializing with your workmates.

Make fun plans

If you find it hard to let go of work, watching television for hours or complaining about how difficult your job is won't help you. Make exciting plans and make sure you always have something to look forward to. Plan a fun activity that has nothing to do with work at least once a week.

Live healthy

Adopting healthy lifestyle habits such as exercise or meditation will make it easier for you to switch off. Even a short walk every day helps you (learn to) relax faster. Find a sport that you enjoy, then you will be able to keep it up more easily.

Delegate

You don't have to take all the work on your shoulders alone. Dare to ask for help and trust that your colleagues will do a good job. If you have a management position, train someone you trust who can replace you when you are not there.

Do what you enjoy

If you enjoy your job, you will suffer less from work stress. Because if you go to work every day against your will, you will get annoyed more quickly by things that do not go entirely according to plan. So find a job that suits you and you will feel less need to want to escape...

Work less

See if you can organize your work differently so that it takes you less time. If you can save money elsewhere, you might even consider opting for a four-day work week, without it affecting your standard of living. Because it has been proven that working less ensures a better work/life balance.

Talk about it

Sometimes talking about your problems can solve a lot. You can often talk about your work privately or in a family atmosphere, but know that only people who do the same work as you will understand you best. That is why it is often good to talk about it with colleagues. You can also talk to the prevention advisor or directly to the manager. If you cannot go there, a psychiatrist may be an option.

Finally, it is always better to do something to change your situation. Sometimes the only option is to change jobs or to completely change course and do another job.
