Chromium OS van Google, het snelste besturingssysteem ter wereld, beschikbaar eind 2010

Het Google-Team is hard aan het werken om zijn Chromium OS klaar te krijgen voor het einde van 2010. Het besturingssysteem genaamd 'Chromium' is gemaakt voor mini-laptops, maar zal ook werken op laptops en PC's. Voor GSM's en SmartPhone's was er al Android die ook op minilaptops wordt gedraaid. Met Google's Chromium OS kijgt het Android besturings- systeem er een geduchte concurent bij.

Het is speciaal gemaakt voor internet gebaseerde toepassingen die kunnen worden benaderd via het internet. Nadat u bent in-geloged, spring je bijna onmiddellijk in Google's Chrome internet browser.

Chromium zal enkel werken op SSD, Solid State Drive, zoals USB-Flash Disks en SD-kaarten. Er zal geen ondersteuning zijn voor harde schijven, voor zover we weten. Chromium zal zeer snel kunnen opstarten mede omdat Solid State Drives sneller zijn. In de toekomst zullen mini-laptops enkel nog beschikbaar zijn op SSD. De voordelen hiervan zijn: minder vermogen nodig en minder bewegende delen die kunnen breken. Google's Chromium OS zal dus sneller laden dan een Windows of Mac Besturingssyteem.

Google is working hard to get their Chromium OS ready for the end of 2010. The Operating System called 'Chromium' is made for mini laptops but will also work on laptops and PC's. Some Minilaptops and SmartPhone's that are using the Android OS are now getting competition of Google's Chromium OS.

It's made for working with internet based applications that can be accessed through the internet. After you log in, you almost immediately jump in Google's Chrome internet browser.

Chromium will only work on SSD, Solid State Drives like USB-Flash Disks and SD-Cards, it will not support hard-disk drives, for so far we know. Chromium will boot very fast partly because Solid State Drives are faster. In the future mini-laptops will be only available on SSD. The advantages of this are: less power needed and less moving parts that can break.

Google also dropped unnecessary services. So it's loading faster. After 2 seconds you get a login splash screen, type in your Google account name and password and you're set off.

Demolition of a factory tower in Ohio goes wrong

Nov 12th 2010 - Springfield, in the state Ohio. The demolition of a factory chimney tower has severely gone wrong. The chimney of 83 meters high sat down in the wrong direction. The Colossus destroyed a building and hit an electricity cable that provide electricity to 4,000 households. The cause of the blunder was due to a crack in the chimney. The experts didn't saw this crack in the chimney.

Death and destruction by the Volcano Merapi in Indonesia, villages and more than 100 victims buried in hot ash!

Okt. 5th 2010 - Dozens of people were surprised in their sleep by a cloud of ash and heat. More than fifty people didn't survived the night, charred bodies were found after the heat cloud passed the villages. The number of victims will certainly increase. Since Oct. 26 has Merapi claimed for more than 100 victims.

A heat cloud pulled last night in all silence about the village near Merapi volcano. The Indonesian volcano has been active for more than a week and is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. Emergency services took body's away one after the other. They lived in a group of houses in Argomulyo. Other parts of the village are still too hot to be rescued. The cloud took up to areas more than 18 km (11 miles) away from the volcano.

Microsoft Windows 8, a 128 bit platform! Is it going to be real or is it just a hype or a rumor?

Windows 7 just arrived in 2010 and the workers of Microsoft are already busy making a better operating system. It will be known as Windows 8, what else did you expect?

128 bit?!
XP was known as a 32 bit operation system, Windows 7 made 64 bit the standard but Microsoft has plans to make the Windows 8 OS a 128 bit platform.
Here for, your computer has to have an 128 bit architecture to manage the data processes. The question is what for CPU it need to drive on. Will it be a single core 128 bit processor or do you need several 64 bit cores. No panic the 128 bit processor already exists.

What does it means in reality?
First you need more RAM Chips. And new software that is 128 bit compatible including Microsoft's own Office. Now a day there is no such a software available for the masses. Software companies has just made their software 64 bit compatible for Windows 7. Another investment for a 128 bit version of their software seems a little too far.

How to use Windows 8? The look and the feeling of Windows 8?
When you start your Windows 8 computer it starts very fast and you can log in with your Hotmail account. When logged in you get the start screen, not the usual screen with the Windows start screen and the task bar. Instead you get a screen with big icons that you can arrange. The big icons tell you a lot stuff like how the weather is, if you have new mails with additional information of who the mail is and the subject.

Where is my usual desktop?
On the start screen you can find the big icon 'Desktop'. By clicking it you get the normal desktop screen like you have in Windows 7.

When does Microsoft Windows 8 arrive?
According to some rumors it will be 2012 until we can expect a public beta version. The question is: will the hardware be good enough adapted to the needs of the new OS. Are do we have to reverse the question: will the new OS be ready in 2012? An ex-Microsoft employee said on a French blog: www.blog.ma-config.com that Windows 8 RTM will be released on Friday, July 1 in 2011. There are no release dates so far for Windows Server 2012 and Office 2012. We hope to test the beta version in 2010.

Anemometer - meaning (English)

What is an anemometer (short definition)
An Anemometer is an instrument with which the wind can be determined.

Windmill with hemispheres
This instrument was introduced in 1846 by the Irish astronomer Thomas Romney Robinson (1792-1882). This instrument is a rotating windmill with three or four hemispheres (cups) with a rotating shaft rods to be confirmed. The axis is approximately perpendicular to the direction of the wind measurement. The hemispheres are hollow inside. If there are only three hemispheres then they are present prepared at 120° apart. The windmill will rotate because the wind on the concave side exerts more than on the convex side. The motion of the rotating balls through the ashes transform into a dynamo with an electrical voltage signal. The rotation speed of the wind speed are derived. This wind speed is expressed in meters per second or kilometers per hour.

Paddle wheel
Another form of an anemometer is used to measure the speed of the air (mine shafts, air conditioning) in buildings. With this type of windmill has blades in the wing shape or consists of a wheel with blades. The shaft is parallel to the direction of the wind. The weather puts a dynamo coupled motion into electrical voltage.

Ultrasonic anemometer
These motionless sensor is based on the principle that the propagation speed of sound changes with the wind speed. The direction of the wind can be lead and peaks can be measured.

Thermal anemometers
This consists of two heated Pt100 measuring sensors, which are kept constantly in temperature differences. By passing air, the sensors can cooling off. The electric power which is necessary in order to maintain the temperature difference is measured and is a measure of the airspeed.
This type is similar to the classic hot wire anemometer, where the cooling is a measurement of the flow rate of the wind. The cooling effect, for example, a temperature sensitive resistance (NTC) in an electronic circuit, ensures that the wind speed is converted into a voltage or power difference.

Laser Doppler anemometer
Light scattering by particles in the flowing air can also be used as a measure of wind speed. Returning light has twice undergone a Doppler effect, from which speed can be found.

Wat is een anemometer (korte definitie)
Een Anemometer is een instrument waarmee de windsnelheid wordt bepaald.

Molentje met halve bollen
Dit instrument werd in 1846 geïntroduceerd door de Ierse astronoom Thomas Romney Robinson (1792-1882). Dit instrument is een ronddraaiend molentje met drie of vier halve bollen (cups) die met stangetjes aan een draaibare as zijn bevestigd. De as staat ongeveer haaks op de richting van de te meten wind. De halve bollen, zijn van binnen hol. Indien er maar 3 halve bollen aanwezig zijn staan deze elk op 120° uit elkaar opgesteld. Doordat de wind op de holle zijde meer kracht uitoefent dan op de bolle zijde, zal het molentje gaan draaien. De beweging van de draaiende bollen wordt via de as omgezet met een dynamo in een elektrisch spanningssignaal. Uit de omwentelingssnelheid kan de snelheid van de wind worden afgeleid. Deze windsnelheid wordt uitgedrukt in meters per seconde of kilometers per uur.

Schoepenrad
Een andere vorm van een anemometer wordt gebruikt om de luchtsnelheid in kanalen (mijngangen, airconditioning) of gebouwen te meten. Bij dit type heeft het molentje wieken in vleugelvorm of een wieltje met schoepen. De as loopt evenwijdig met de richting van de wind. Weer zet een gekoppelde dynamo de beweging om in elektrische spanning.

Ultrasone anemometer
Deze bewegingloze opnemer berust op het principe dat de voortplantingssnelheid van geluid verandert met de windsnelheid. Tevens is de windrichting af te leiden en kunnen windstoten en pieken gemeten worden.

Thermische anemometers
Deze bestaat uit twee verwarmde Pt100 meetsensoren, die onderling constant in temperatuur verschillen. Door de langsstromende lucht koelen de sensoren af. De elektrische stroom die nodig is om het temperatuurverschil te onderhouden wordt gemeten en is een maat voor de luchtsnelheid.
Dit type is vergelijkbaar met de klassieke hot wire anemometer, waarbij de afkoeling een maat is voor de stroomsnelheid van de wind. De afkoeling beïnvloedt een temperatuurgevoelige weerstand (bijvoorbeeld NTC) in een schakeling, zodat de windsnelheid wordt omgezet in een spannings- of stroomverschil.

Laser Doppler anemometers
Lichtverstrooiing door deeltjes in de stromende lucht kan ook gebruikt worden als maat voor de windsnelheid. Terugkerend licht heeft tweemaal een Doppler-effect ondergaan, waaruit de snelheid kan worden gevonden.

Ferrari F430 Spider review

De meest recente Ferrari, de F430 Spider, is een roadster met een V8 motor. Deze sportauto biedt een unieke combinatie van extreme prestaties en rijden zonder dak. Deze super-machine is uitgerust met dezelfde 4.3-liter als de F430 coupé. De Spider heeft een topsnelheid van meer dan 310 km/u en gaat van 0 tot 100 km in 4,1 seconden.

Deze hoogstaande prestaties werden bekomen door technieken die men terug vindt in de Formule 1. Het circuit is nog steeds het terrein voor Ferrari om aan onderzoek en ontwikkeling te doen.

De belangrijkste verbeteringen zijn een verhoging van 10 procent torsiestijfheid bij het chassis. De bediening en wegligging leunen aan bij de betere standaarden, terwijl het elektronische differentieel er voor zorgt dat de 490 pk uit de V8 op een efficiënte manier op de weg wordt overgebracht.
