Don't use PayPal, it's the worst bank I ever used

Here's a review of my recent bad experiences with PayPal...

It all started on December 25th, 2024, on Christmas Eve. I received four emails from PayPal indicating there were four transactions occurring one after the other for a total of four digital Christmas gift cards that I should have ordered. But I never ordered those gift cards. Then I realized that my account had been hacked, in total, 70 euros vanished from my account.

The complaint

I sent PayPal a complaint and also contacted the firm from which the gift cards were ordered. I only received a message from PayPal stating that they could not refund the money. For me, that was a bad experience. Such a large bank institution with considerable influence that can't provide me with service by undoing these transactions is frustrating. Just an apology for the malicious transactions. It ruined my Christmas Eve festivities with my family because I needed to reset my password and write a complaint and I lost 70 euros. They replied that I could use the phone number if I needed help (that will be a dissapointment further in this story). After that, I transferred all the money that was left in the PayPal account to my actual bank account. Four days passed until the money was in my bank account. Why so long?!

New Year, another bad experience with PayPal

Given my recent bad experiences, I wanted to fully close my PayPal account. So, I went to the account settings to close my account. The message I received was: "You can't close your account because there are still some pending transactions that have not yet been completed".  Huh ? What transactions? I never ordered anything! Why are there still transactions pending? I checked my actual bank account and discovered two payments of 10 euros that were transferred to PayPal. I wondered why, because I didn't order or pay for anything with PayPal. Now I wanted to definitively close my PayPal account. Then I called the service number on January 2, 2025, to get more information about the new transactions. The response was that the number could not be reached... Again, a bad, bad service experience with PayPal. I hope to close my PayPal account as soon as possible now.

I thank PayPal for ruining my Christmas holidays. And I have now lost a total of 90 euros thanks to PayPal. Never will I use PayPal again.
